EU Compliance

European Accessibility Act
(EAA) 2025

A unified accessibility requirement for products and services in the EU. The deadline for compliance is June 28, 2025.

Does this apply to US companies?

Yes. If you sell products or services to consumers in the European Union, your website must comply with the EAA, regardless of where your company is based.

What is the requirement?

The EAA requires e-commerce services, banking, websites, and mobile apps to be perceivable, understandable, operable, and robust.

In practice, this means adhering to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards (or higher).

Penalties for Non-Compliance

Unlike the ADA (which relies on lawsuits), the EAA is enforced by EU member states. Penalties can include fines and the authority to remove non-compliant products/services from the EU market.

Is your site EAA ready?

ShipConfident scans your website against the WCAG standards mandated by the European Accessibility Act.
